Jordan Spieth takes Rory McIlroy’s Spot on PGA Tour Policy Board
Jordan Spieth will take Rory McIlroy’s spot on the PGA Tour Policy Board, filling in the void that was left by the Northern Irishman last week.
PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan made the announcement this morning (via ESPN):
“With Rory McIlroy resigning from the PGA Tour Policy Board last week, per the PGA Tour Tournament Regulations, the five remaining Player Directors have elected Jordan Spieth to serve the remainder of Rory’s term which expires at the end of 2024.”
Spieth was voted on by five other player directors: Tiger Woods, Patrick Cantlay, Charley Hoffman, Peter Malnati, and Webb Simpson.

McIlroy left his post on the Tour’s board last week, after citing a lack of time for the position. McIlroy has plans to move out of the United States as well, likely heading to London to spend more time in his native Europe.
Although unconfirmed, McIlroy’s decision may have been influenced by the PGA Tour’s decision to come to terms with the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF).
One of the most outspoken critics of the PIF and LIV Golf, McIlroy was blindsided by the Tour’s decision to merge with the investment fund, and may have wanted to create some distance.
Spieth is no spring chicken to the PGA Tour and has won 13 times, including three Major Championships. He is an ideal choice to replace McIlroy.
