The speculation has been growing around Tiger Woods and his Nike sponsorship, and whether we’re approaching its inevitable end.

In an interview after the opening round of the PNC; he flatly answered questions about the rumours with ‘I’m still wearing their product’. He then repeated the answer – not giving much away.

Dan Rappaport of Barstool reported that Tiger is still wearing FootJoy golf shoes, and has been since the return from his car accident around two years ago. His son Charlie has previously sported all Nike gear at the PNC outings but is not currently wearing the Nike uniform this time around.

One would think Nike would be stupid to let Tiger go with his apparent recovery and improved swing and progress in the game of golf.

They let Roger Federer go towards the end of his tennis career – but losing him was still considered a blunder by many at Nike and around the sporting world.

Tiger is a very busy man at the moment, with the PNC to finish, a 2024 schedule to plan, a framework agreement to finalize, and a PGA Tour whose future is more uncertain than ever before.

For now, it’s just speculation but the facts listed above line up, and it is clear from Tigers interview answers that he doesn’t want to be asked about this right now.

Tiger is Nike, and vice versa. Seeing him continue his golf career without the swoosh would be a strange sight indeed.
