Often lost in the launch of a new driver are the complementing pieces: the fairway woods and hybrids that bridge the gap between the big dog and your scoring clubs.

So rather than glaze over them, let’s dig a little deeper into Callaway’s 2024 offerings—the Paradym Ai Smoke Fairway Woods and Hybrids.

Like the driver models, the Smoke Fairways will come in four flavors: Smoke MAX, MAX D, Triple Diamond and MAX Fast. And also like the driver is the design focus and feature technologies.

The MAX—available in 15 (3W), 16.5 (3W HL), 18 (5W), 20 (Heavenward), 21 (7W), 24 (9W) and 27 (11W) degrees—is a High Launching, Low Spinning fairway with a Neutral ball flight. The MAX D—available in 15 (3W), 16.5 (3W HL), 18 (5W) and 21 (7W) degrees—is the Highest Launching, Mid-Low Spinning fairway with a Draw-biased Ball Flight. The MAX FAST——available in 15 (3W), 19 (5W), 22 (7W) and 25 (9W) degrees—is the Highest Launching, Mid-Low Spinning fairway with a Draw-biased ball flight, but features some lightweight pieces (like a bonded hosel) that better suits the slower-swinging golfer. And finally, there is the Triple Diamond—available in 15 (3W), 18 (5W) and 20 (7W) degrees—which is still a Lower Launching, Lower Spinning Driver with a Neutral/Fade-biased ball flight.

Each of the Smoke fairways will received an Ai Smart Face that has been optimized for every conceivable face and path delivery condition imaginable to optimize launch, ball speed, and dispersion.

Hybrids, meanwhile, will come in three flavors: Smoke, Smoke HL, and MAX Fast. Because hybrids are predominantly used as long iron replacements and to help attack greens, descent angle is a priority to help ensure the ball stops when it lands, so all of the Smoke hybrids will be higher flying. The design separation, here, is instead swing speed and forgiveness. The Smoke—available in 18 (3H), 21 (4H), 24 (5H) and 27 (6H) degrees—is for average to faster swing speeds, as will the Smoke HL—available in 18 (3H), 21 (4H), 24 (5H), 27 (6H), 30 (7H) and 33 (8H) degrees—but the HL will feature more forgiveness. The MAX—available in 21 (4H), 24 (5H), 27 (6H), 30 (7H), and 33 (8H) degrees—is for slower swing speeds, and features a bonded hosel to help lighten the head and free up swing speed, and also the most forgiving in the lineup. Each of the birds will also feature Ai Smart Face technology.

The Smoke Fairways and Hybrids, like the driver, will be priced at $350 and $280, respectively, and available for pre-sale on January 12th and retail on January 26th.
