Xander Schauffele was victorious at Valhalla in a PGA Championship with more than a few talking points.

His first major victory came via a wire-to-wire win after a course record 62 to open on Thursday before posting consecutive rounds in the sixties and a Sunday 65 to get it over the line. Xander put on a phenomenal display, making just two bogeys all week with one double bogey and a whole host of birdies.

The $18.5 million purse at Valhall was up $1m from the previous year and up $5 million from Phil Mickelson’s win at Kiawah Island in 2021.  The enormous purse will be split in the following way:

  1. $3,330,000
  2. $1,998,000
  3. $1,258,000
  4. $888,000
  5. $740,000
  6. $660,580
  7. $618,300
  8. $577,790
  9. $539,030
  10. $502,040
  11. $466,810
  12. $433,340
  13. $401,630
  14. $371,690
  15. $343,500
  16. $317,080
  17. $292,420
  18. $269,520
  19. $248,380
  20. $229,000

Players who missed the cut and turned in a 36-hole score will earn $4,000 each. Any player who made the cut but failed to submit a 72-hole score will also be paid $4,000.

Seven figures for coming third belongs to Norwegian Viktor Hovland, who stormed through after his best week of the season. In second was Bryson DeChambeau, who narrowly missed out on a playoff after posting -20 for the tournament after a Sunday 64. Other notables in the top fifteen were Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and Collin Morikawa, who had to wait until the 18th green to card his first birdie on Sunday.
