Jason Day’s Malbon Rain Gear Took The Open Viewers by Storm
No, it’s not April Fools. Despite the fact that Malbon has established itself as a premium apparel brand that likes to color outside the lines in a manner that rivals my 2-year-old daughter, the California-based brand has developed an apparel collection that actually has been well-received by the masses:

After getting caught up in the weather during the Open Championship, Jason Day was forced to wear rain gear. But while many other golfers wore something that lacked style (see plain black), Day went with a light-colored jacket/pants combination that looked stylish and functional.

The raingear set, which doesn’t appear to be on Malbon’s website (yet), starts with a waterproof jacket that features dual, military-style chest pockets, side pockets with (presumably) waterproof zippers, elastic wrists, and a hood with pull strings. Most noticeable is the more simplistic, conservative branding: a small “Malbon” on a single chest pocket and scripting down the sleeve.
The pants feature similar design features: a single, military-style pocket and two side pockets with what appear to be waterproof zippers. The latter is complemented by “Malbon” in a script running down a single pant leg.
While rain gear is very expensive, it’s unfortunate that a lot of the stuff out there looks very similar, with branding and color accenting being some of the more distinguishing features. The Malbon stuff, however, takes a very different approach with a unique color and stylish design features. The ultimate question, however, is whether this stuff is as functional as it appears.
