Report: Jon Rahm Would ‘Give Back’ His Millions to LIV in Order to Rejoin the PGA Tour

Almost ever since he played his first LIV Golf tournament this past winter, Jon Rahm has dropped hints that he’d still like to be a part of the PGA Tour. 

Despite signing with LIV last December for a number reported to be north of a half-billion dollars, the Spaniard has made several interesting comments.

In February, he said he missed competing at the WM Phoenix Open. In May, he said he was still a member of the PGA Tour – and feels like one – despite only playing in LIV tournaments. 

There have also been outbursts on the course. One involving a drone, and another over a fan’s comments on the same day that he won his first LIV event. Outside of LIV, it’s been a difficult year, which included having to withdraw from the U.S. Open and a collapse on the back-nine at the Olympics.

Now, a report from Golf Digest quotes a source who says that Rahm wants back on the PGA Tour. 

The source told the publication:

“I am 100 percent positive that if Jon could give the money back to the Saudis and come back to the tour, he couldn’t write the check fast enough. Now, there are only four times a year when he’s playing that anybody is remotely interested. He thought his stature in the game was secure no matter where he was playing, and it was a bad miscalculation.”

When Rahm signed with LIV, all indications were that the group would be finalizing its deal with the PGA Tour, which could provide a chance for golfers from each circuit to move back and forth a bit. But a deal has yet to materialize, and it may not for quite some time.

After the 2025 PGA Tour schedule was released with few changes, commissioner Jay Monahan told the media that it was fair to not expect any LIV involvement until after 2026 or ‘27.
