Bernhard Langer Extends Historic PGA Tour Champions Streak in Dramatic Fashion
As the number of shots remaining in the 2024 season wound down, it looked like Bernhard Langer – the most decorated golfer in PGA Tour Champions history – would see his winning streak come to an end.
That is, until the last shot of his season fell into the cup.

Langer drained a 30-foot birdie putt to end up one shot better than Steven Alker, who ended up winning the season-long title at the Charles Schwab Championship on Sunday.
The 67-year-old Langer’s victory extended his records of a victory in now 18 consecutive seasons, 47 victories overall in the series, and oldest player to win on tour.
Langer’s previous win, at the start of 2023, broke a tie between him and Hale Irwin for most wins on what was formerly known as the senior tour. He had a slow start to this year after tearing his Achilles playing pickleball in January.
Langer said after the win:
“When we arrived here on Monday, I mentioned to [caddie] Terry [Holt] that we hadn’t won this year, and we’ve only got one more chance. This was the least likely one to win, because I’ve just never done very well here for some reason. But I had one of the best putting weeks of my life.”

Despite winning the season-long title six times, this was Langer’s first win in this event at Phoenix Country Club.
