Grant Horvat announced yesterday he would not accept an invitation to the Barracuda Championship that was extended to him through sponsors’ exemptions, and people are absolutely going mad over it.

PGA TOUR Invites a YouTube Golf Sensation to Play a Tournament

Horvat said he declined the invitation because the PGA TOUR's media rights will not allow him to film:

Horvat's justification seems ideal, especially considering the only reason he is in the position in the first place is due to the fact that he established his platform by filming his golf game.

People were not happy about his decision:

Many pointed to the fact that the Bryan Bros recently played in a DP World Tour event, and it was a great experience for not only them, but their fans as well. People were truly excited to see how Grant would stack up, and although the odds to make the cut were stacked against him, it would have been awesome to see him playing on the TOUR.

However, Horvat's reasoning, while interesting because many would not decline this opportunity, is somewhat understandable.

He gained his platform by recording content, and many would be excited to see him film his PGA TOUR rounds. Perhaps some behind-the-scenes access would be sufficient, as players like Ben Griffin have gained popularity by doing this.

Grant's content is more focused on the play itself, and that's what he'd be interested in filming. The TOUR's strict rules on content do not allow it, but it's not a TOUR-exclusive policy. Many sports do not allow athletes to use their play for personal use:

Is it upsetting? Sure. I think everyone would have liked to have seen how he fared on the TOUR. It's fun to see names from YouTube getting these invites, and perhaps he will get another and take advantage of it. For now, we can only wish.
