Adam Hadwin Admits to Meeting His Wife on Tinder
Professional athletes are some of the busiest people in the world, and that gives them little time to have a social life. One of the most popular apps on the market, however, has allowed at least one golfer to find love.
Adam Hadwin has had quite the year on the PGA TOUR. He started off 2017 by carding a 59 and then won his first PGA TOUR event at the Valspar Championship (nice attributes to have on your Tinder profile!). After taking home the title, Hadwin secured a spot in The Masters and had to push back his honeymoon with his new wife, Jessica. The two were married two weeks after the Valspar Championship but their story dates back much further.
In an interview with Golf Live, Hadwin opens up about his relationship with his new wife, admitting that the two met on Tinder while he was on the Web.com Tour. As Hadwin describes, he was in Witchita for a Tour event and matched with Jessica while he was there. Since he missed the cut at that tournament, he was able to turn his attention towards her and came away from that tournament with something better than a paycheck.
“Jess and I have always said that we met in Wichita when I was playing an event, and we kind of just left it at that,” Hadwin described in his interview. “Then we had to bring up how, and of course you bring it up now but, it is the truth. We were Tinder-matched in Wichita there, and we went out once when I was there that week, had dinner.”
While Tinder is typically known as an app that teens and young adults use in the “hook-up” culture, many would be surprised by the number of pro athletes that use the popular swiping app. There was recently a piece done that shines a light on the heavy usage of Tinder by NBA players and it is also widely used by PGA professionals while they are on the road.
So while you might be out there looking for love but think Tinder is only for hookups, maybe it’s time you give it a shot. And just maybe you’ll end up as happy as Adam Hadwin.
