Smylie Kaufman Deals with Snake on Course
Known for his antics on spring break trips and for a good sense of humor, Smylie Kaufman is one of the more entertaining players on the PGA TOUR. And Smylie had quite the encounter on the course this week.
Kaufman was out practicing his chipping on the course when he met a friend in the form of a snake. The snake came up on the green where many of his balls were sitting and slithered around the area he was practicing. Luckily for us, Smylie recorded the entire ordeal on his Snapchat story for our viewing pleasure.
Kaufman was obviously freaked out by the snake in the video as you can tell by his shaky voice and reluctance to approach it. This reminds fans of another Smylie encounter with a snake, In November, Kaufman’s buddies actually pulled a gag on him where they put a fake snake in his golf bag. Smylie appropriately freaked out and knocked over his whole bag. This time he held it together a little bit better.

This isn’t the only interaction that Smylie has had with wildlife on the golf course this year. At the Arnold Palmer Invitational back in March, Kaufman was walking down the fairway only to notice an alligator a few feet in front of him. In that situation, Kaufman dove backward after the sighting caught him off guard.
Basically, Kaufman hasn’t had a great run in with animals on the course this season. Luckily, none of his run-ins have resulted in any injury to him or the animal, which is something a lot of golfers can’t say. Smylie will just have to be extra careful now, especially since he just recently got engaged to his longtime girlfriend.
We hope that the snake eventually left Smylie alone on the green and he was able to finish his chipping practice. That way he has a better chance of coming back and contending for more tournaments next season.
