Try Before You Buy with Global Golf’s U-Try Program

Regardless of whether you’re playing a 10-year-old TaylorMade Burner Driver or last year’s Epic Fairway Wood, avid golfers are always interested in trying (and perhaps buying) the newest drivers, fairway woods, and/or hybrids from the mainstream manufacturers.

But the biggest drawback with buying a new metalwood, especially since most come with a $500+ price tag, is that you rarely, if ever, have the chance to try them out on the course and experience how it actually plays.

To illustrate, I know that my tee shot at one of the courses I regularly play normally lands just short of a fairway bunker that’s about 260 yards off the tee.  So while it’s been great to try a bunch of different drivers at the local retailers, I still have no idea if any of them would actually outperform the TaylorMade R11S I’m currently playing.  Until now…

With Global Golf’s U-Try Trial Program, you can finally “try it before you buy it.”  Yep, for just $25, you can select 2 brand new clubs to try out from Global Golf’s inventory, which currently includes:

  • Callaway Rogue, Rogue Sub Zero, and Rogue Draw Drivers, Rogue and Rogue Sub Zero Fairway Woods (from 3 to 9 Woods), and the Rogue and Rogue X Hybrids (2 through 4 Hybrids)
  • Cleveland Launcher HB Driver and Fairway Woods (3 Wood and 5 Wood)
  • Cobra King F8 and F8+ (in Nardo Grey and Black) Drivers, Fairway Woods, and Hybrids (2 through 4 Hybrids)
  • Mizuno GT180 and ST 180 Drivers and Fairway Woods (3 and 5 Woods)
  • TaylorMade M3, M3 440, M4, and M4 D-Type Drivers, M3, M4, and M4 Tour Fairway Woods (3 through 5 Hi-Launch Woods), and M3 and M4 Hybrids (2 through 5 Hybrids)
  • Titleist 917 D2 Driver, Fairway Wood (3 and 5 Wood), and 816 H1, 818 H1, and 818 H2 Hybrids (2 through 4 Hybrids)
  • Wilson Staff C300 Driver, Fairway Wood (3 and 5 Woods), and Hybrid (3 Hybrid)
  • XXIO X Driver and Fairway Wood (3 through 5 Woods)

PLUS, most of these clubs offer a few different shaft options, such as the Project X Even Flow, Fujikura ATMOS Red, and ALDILA SYNERGY.

I decided to go with the Rogue Sub Zero Driver (9°) and Project X HZRDUS Yellow Stiff Flex Shaft for the ultimate low-spin combination.

3-days later, the Global Golf box arrived with the brand-new, plastic wrapped driver I selected, the Rogue series headcover, Callaway driver wrench, an Arccos Driver sensor, and a sheet explaining how the U-Try program works.

Once you receive the club(s) you ordered, you have 14 days to play as much golf as possible with whatever club you’ve ordered.  At the end of the 14-day period, you can either return the club or purchase the club outright.

Naturally, I made sure to play as much golf as possible after I received the Sub Zero—a couple rounds at my local track, 2 rounds of golf in Bermuda at the Mid Ocean Club and Port Royal Golf Course, and one last final round at another NYC-area golf course.  And after having some bonding time with the Sub Zero, I can say that I’ve fallen in love.

However, none of this would’ve been possible without the U-Try It Program.  As I mentioned earlier, while it’s great that the simulators at few retailers have shown some measurable gains over my R11S, I wasn’t exactly ready to drop a bunch of money on a club that didn’t offer real gains or sacrificed accuracy on the golf course.

Fortunately, the U-Try It Program allowed me to put the Sub Zero in the bag and see how it actually played for me, which (absent this opportunity) would not have been possible.

Sadly, after my two weeks it was time to return the Sub Zero.  Fortunately, Global Golf makes this even easier than placing your order because a return shipping label is included with your original shipment.  So in the event you decide to not keep what you ordered, simply box everything back up and, after shedding a few tears, mail everything back to Global Golf.

So regardless of whether you’re interested in comparing last year’s model against the newest version or trying out a club that you’re really interested in, Global Golf’s U-Try Trial Program is the ultimate way to try out the newest metalwood from Callaway, TaylorMade, Titleist, etc.

While hitting a club into a simulator screen is great, nothing will help you decide on a new purchase like teeing it up and crushing a few balls down the middle of the fairway past your old personal bests.
