The PGA TOUR Plans to Show Every Shot Live at THE PLAYERS
Have you ever been watching a PGA TOUR event and just wish you could be watching a different group? Well the PGA TOUR is hoping to make that a possibility starting as soon as next year.
The PGA TOUR made a huge announcement on Monday stating that they are going to be doing a test run of providing fans with live views of every single shot hit at TPC Sawgrass in 2020. According to some estimates, that would be about 32,000 shots during the entire four days that you would have the option to see live. But that option will only come if you have PGA Tour Live, NBC Sports Gold, or Amazon Prime subscriptions.

The coverage is exactly what you would expect to have from a product like this. Viewers will have the option to select which players they want to see at any given time and have access to their live feed. This is perfect for anyone that doesn’t necessarily like watching the leaders as much as they are shown on TV or for those who play daily fantasy golf and want to check in on their players as they look to win some money.
“The PGA Tour is the most content-rich sport on the planet and we have been focused on expanding the amount of content we bring to our fans from our competitions,” Rick Anderson, Chief Media Officer for the PGA Tour, said in a statement. “Our vision is to bring every shot in every PGA Tour golf tournament live and on-demand to our fans, and this is the first step to making that happen.”
Now, this isn’t anything too crazy for the golf world. Last year at The Masters, which is not run by the PGA Tour, the event was able to show fans all shots that were hit during the tournament but not on a live stream like the PGA TOUR is hoping to accomplish. So in essence, this is just building on what has already begun to take form.
This is something that I think is going to have fans extremely excited moving forward and the PGA TOUR believes if this test run goes well, this could be implemented at many more tournaments. So fingers crossed everything goes well in March and this becomes a new norm for the PGA TOUR.
