SPOTTED: Go Phone-Free with Arccos Caddie Link
Although we’re basically half way through 2020, it appears that shot tracking technology is starting to turn out some products that really push things forward.

Arccos, one of the bigger shot tracking companies and pioneer of big data and artificial intelligence for golf, announced today the launch of Arccos Caddie Link, a small, ultralight wearable accessory that allows Arccos players to automatically capture their shot data without having to carry a smartphone on the course.

For anyone unfamiliar with Arccos, the data is recorded by either installing the Arccos Caddie Smart Sensors into the end of the grip of each club or having the Arccos Caddie Smart Grips installed each club . Through a Bluetooth connection with the Arccos app on your smartphone, each shot is detected, recorded and then analyzed by Arccos’ A.I. Powered GPS Rangefinder, which can help users identify the proper club to hit to distances to any point on the course. Advanced Analytics, such as Strokes Gained analysis for Driving, Approach, Chipping, Sand and Putting, to help any player make smarter decisions to shoot lower scores.
While Arccos was unquestionable a high-power system that provided golfers with plenty of advanced analytics that would help golfers make smarter decisions and, ultimately, shoot lower scores, the biggest drawback is that golfers were required to keep their smartphone in their front pocket.
Some people, myself included, found this bothersome and wished that there was another way to record the data from each club. Fortunately, Link appears to have solved this problem.

Compatible with iPhone and Android devices, Link seamlessly pairs with the Arccos Caddie app and sensors. The Link device, which weighs less than 25 grams and measures approximately 2.25” (L) x 1.25” (W) x 0.75” (D) (smaller than a standard playing card), can be worn on a player’s belt, waistband or pocket while tracking shots in real time, including which club was used and the precise location a shot was hit. The data is then automatically transferred to a user’s smartphone via Bluetooth, either during or after the round. As a result, golfers can now use their Arccos while keeping their phone in a cart, bag, back pocket or elsewhere.
And in order to ensure that you can get plenty of use out of Link, the battery is rated for 10 hours and can be quickly charged using a standard micro USB cable. Furthermore, Link boasts a new feature that was not previously available through the smartphone app: golfers can now mark the hole location by simply pushing a button while standing next to the pin.
“The demand for this product is massive and its launch is an exceptional engineering achievement by the Arccos team,” said Steve Obsitnik, Arccos President and COO. “We’ve basically miniaturized a smartphone and removed the screen in order to serve the needs of current and prospective Arccos members who don’t want to carry a phone in their pocket or wear a watch. The added benefit is that any player using Arccos can also listen to music or take swing videos during their rounds.”

“I am one of the biggest supporters of Arccos Caddie Link, both for me personally and my students, especially the women,” said Trillium Rose, a Golf Digest Top 50 Teacher in America (2019-2020) and Arccos Ambassador. “When I play, I mainly wear skirts that only have one small pocket and a large iPhone XR doesn’t fit. I think a lot of women golfers are like me and they’re going to love the Link.”
Arccos Caddie Link units, which are available for $99.99, will begin shipping to consumers on July 15th. Thousands of pre-orders will be fulfilled in the order they were received, with additional orders will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis exclusively at www.arccosgolf.com, with estimated delivery dates for new purchases with estimated ship dates starting early-September 2020 and updated on a rolling basis.
