BETS: Matchups, Faders, Straight Up Winners, & More // RSM Classic
It’s been awhile since the last time I posted an article with picks for you guys, but we’re past The Master’s, so we’ll get back into it for these winter months. The RSM classic at Sea Island has the best field it most likely has ever had this year, so it should be interesting to see what the winning score will end up at (the defending champ, Tyler Duncan, finished at 19 under at last year’s event).
The tournament is played at two separate courses, which always makes round by round matchups annoying to pick, but I still don’t think that it is specifically a disadvantage for anyone when they switch off between the Plantation and Seaside courses. Historically, big bombers aren’t going to fare as well as the accurate ball strikers of the Tour. Given that info, let’s get into the picks.

To Win The RSM Classic: Russell Henley (+2800)
We’re looking for guys this week who are going to keep the ball in play and hit greens. Henley does both as he’s 10th in Greens in Regulation % and 15th in Driving Accuracy. He’s simply on fire right now coming off a T3 at the CJ Cup, T4 at the ZOZO, and a respectable T29 at the Houston Open.
To Finish Top 10 at The RSM Classic: Denny McCarthy (+750)
So much value on this pick. McCarthy not only finished T8 last year at this event, but he’s in great from right now coming off a T4 at the Bermuda and T6 at the Sanderson. He’s 32nd and 46th, respectively, in Driving Accuracy and Greens in Regulation so he’s going to be our pick this week for a top 10 finish.
Tournament Matchups
Joel Dahmen (+105) over Harold Varner III
The bucket hat wearin’ man went through a rough patch, but he’s back in form, and this is the perfect venue for him. He’s a course manager and I think Varner will play well, but won’t outlast Dahmen.

C.T. Pan (-130) over Matt Wallace
C.T. Pan is playing really good golf right now coming off of a T7 finish at Augusta this past week. Par 4 scoring will be very important this week, and although it doesn’t sound great, he shot 1 over par on the Par 4’s at Augusta, while Matt Wallace shot 15 over par.
