The Players Championship has arrived, and while it is a great weekend for spectators, TPC Sawgrass presents numerous challenges for players, some of which are just too much to handle.

The slight dogleg on the 18th hole is lined with a lake on the left, and it has already claimed a few balls on Thursday, one of which was Rory McIlroy’s.

However, it has claimed its first club of the weekend, as Adam Hadwin showed off his impressive launching skills as he threw an iron into the water on Thursday:

Hadwin’s tee shot found the left rough, and his second shot required a tight, 148-yard shot into a challenging pin location that is tucked into the back left corner of the green. Hadwin took the location on, and it unfortunately found the water.

So did his club.

Hadwin would only give up one shot on the hole, but it would polish off a +3 75 for him, finishing off a frustrating day.

The 18th is one of the most challenging holes on the course. In fact, the triple pairing of Spieth, Hovland, and McIlroy managed to find one water ball on Rory’s tee shot. Not a single player in this grouping was able to find par or better, with all three players making bogey.
