Adam Hadwin Notches First PGA TOUR Win

After bursting onto the scene by shooting a 59 earlier in the season, Adam Hadwin has finally collected his first win on the PGA TOUR. While he was able to grab the victory, he had to do so in dramatic fashion.

The ending of the Valspar Championship didn’t look like it would be too exciting with Hadwin carrying a two-shot lead into the final three holes of his round. Then, Hadwin hit an errant shot into the water hazard, opening up the door for former #1 amateur Patrick Cantlay. After finishing the 16th with a double bogey, Cantlay and Hadwin remained tied until Cantlay missed a 15-foot par putt that would have sent the match into a playoff.

While Hadwin thought he had played well the entire day, he did have to concede that he was a little lucky at the end of the match. After earning the victory, Hadwin said, “I feel a little fortunate after that hole to be sitting here, but I’ll certainly take it, and I can’t wait for everything that comes with this win.”

There are certainly a lot of things that come with this victory for Hadwin. To start with, Hadwin moves up to the 51st best player in the world. He also qualifies for the WGC Dell Match Play tournament and to The Masters in just about a month. This victory also forces Hadwin to move around some of his own personal plans.

While he did qualify for the Dell Match Play tournament, he will not be playing because he will be getting married that week. He will, however, attend The Masters, even though it requires him to push back his honeymoon in French Polynesia for a few weeks in order to prepare.

With this victory and his upcoming wedding, this is a big time in Hadwin’s life and hopefully, he can justify pushing back his honeymoon by putting on a strong performance at Augusta National in April.
