Airline Loses Two Sets of Thorbjorn Olesen’s Clubs
If you’re a regular on any airline, you’re almost guaranteed to have experienced lost luggage after a flight. But what happened to Thorbjorn Olesen the past week and a half is incredibly frustrating.
The 5-time European Tour champion has been traveling across the continent to compete in Euro Tour events this year and for the past 10 days, he’s been having a ton of trouble getting his equipment and belongings to travel with him. Over that period, Olesen has lost two sets of golf clubs and five suitcases in transit.
The clubs are obviously a big deal because he can’t compete in an event without them but the suitcases could be just as big of a deal. Who knows what necessary equipment that Olesen packs in his bags that he needs to prepare for a tournament. As we saw at the PGA Championship, Tiger Woods needed a ton of shirts to compete in the final round because it was so hot.
So the comedy continues, @British_Airways have managed to now lose 5 suitcases and 2 sets of golf clubs in 10 days!
Decided to bring my only backup set of clubs on this morning's flight to the Nordea Masters in case my other lost set don't arrive and BA have also now lost these! pic.twitter.com/V6QPXzAaBk

Thorbjorn even prepared for this scenario with his first set of clubs going missing, sending for his backup set but those have been lost by the airline as well. That’s a sure way to kick a guy while he’s down, after finishing outside of the top 50 in the PGA TOUR’s final major of the year. He’s currently unsure if either set will make it to him in time to play in his scheduled event in Europe this weekend.
This certainly isn’t the first case this season of players having their clubs lost in transit. Ian Poulter suffered that issue a few months back and Graeme McDowell was even more unlucky than that. McDowell was forced to withdraw from an event because the airline couldn’t get his bag from France to the British Isles in time for his tournament.
I for one have always wanted to travel to Europe to play the links and enjoy the sights. But if this baggage mix up starts becoming more prevalent, I may just wait a little longer until I know my belongings will be able to join me on that trip.
