Ballyowen Golf Club was named one of the Top 50 Public Courses in the US by Conde Nast’s GolfWorld Magazine. Over 21,000 individual golf courses were evaluated based on 13 different performance criteria, including quality and condition of the course, reputation/prestige, food/dining, and service. Since opening in June 1998, Ballyowen has continually received outstanding critical acclaim, rated the #1 Public Golf Course in New Jersey by Golfweek, PubLinks, Zagat, New Jersey Monthly, NJ Golf, and The Jersey Golfer and 15th among the 50 Most Popular Courses in the US by Zagat.  Its accommodations truly make it a course worth considering if you’re taking a client or business associate out and want to make a really nice impression (see our Art of Doing Business on the Golf Course article for more on this topic)

Ballyowen’s design was perfectly melded into the local landscape by renowned golf course architect, Roger Rulewich, and it sits atop a 250 acre plateau of what was once rolling farm land.  Ballyowen overlooks the beautiful Walkill River and is surrounded by high fescue. With virtually no trees and plush green fairways, Ballyowen reflects a Celtic-style appearance complete with employees donning traditional kilts, socks, and even bagpipes.  The course plays 7,094 yards from the tips for a par of 72.  Ballyowen’s course rating is 73.6 and it has a slope rating of 131 on Bent grass.

A great place to impress friend or clients, this course is a true test for the average golfer.  Just be sure to bring a few extra golf balls out there.  With all its rolling high fescue you’re more than apt to loose a few.
