When you miss the cut at an event you were playing at, you typically spend time reminiscing on what went wrong so you can come back stronger. Bubba Watson had a different strategy this past weekend.

After being cut from the Genesis Open this weekend, Bubba Watson decided that he wouldn’t stick around at the event. He instead chose to spend some time with one of his favorite celebrities, Justin Bieber. That’s right, Bubba is a big-time Belieber. After taking his lumps on Thursday and Friday, Bubba posted a picture of himself playing a round with Bieber and some other friends.

Bieber, who’s coming off a big weekend himself after dropping a new album, has apparently had a major fan in Watson for years. Bubba gave an interview to E! News in 2012 where he talked about how Bieber was the only person that he talked to on the phone after winning his green jacket that year. Bieber has also hung out with Bubba’s kids, showing his son how to play drums.

It get’s even more interesting after hearing how the two met…“Crazy story. I have a friend, a pastor up in Seattle, Judah Smith (who was also part of Saturday’s golf outing), and I helped start a little church here at the Montage every Wednesday night, and so I’d kind of run into Bieber through Judah Smith, and we just started talking, just trying to help him,” Watson said. … “We all have issues we’re going through … and I tried to give him guidance … on how to deal with success.”

That’s apparently a relationship that Watson has worked hard to keep and it might be because Bubba secretly wishes he was part of a boy band. Bubba even tried to be a part of one when he teamed up with Rickie Fowler, Ben Crane, and Hunter Mahan years ago to form the “Golf Boys”. He even tried to get Bieber to join the quartet back in 2016 but Biebs politely declined.

One thing we didn’t find out from Bubba is how good Bieber is on the course. It would definitely be interesting to see the heartthrob compete in a pro-am at some point. Until then, we’ll just have to follow Bubba’s social media to catch a glimpse of the two teeing it up.
