Big Names and High-Ranked Players Pair Up for Grant Thornton Mixed Doubles Event
A strong field was announced for December’s Grant Thornton Invitational in Florida, where a $4 million purse is on the line in the second year of the mixed-doubles event.
The tournament, held at the Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, was known as the QBE Shootout for many years before changing its format last year, where each team consisted of one PGA Tour member and one LPGA player. In the past, teams could consist of any combination of gender.

Women’s world No. 4 Lydia Ko teams with Jason Day (33rd in the Official World Golf Ranking) and will look to defend their title from a year ago.
Several other LPGA pros in the top 10 in the world ranking are also taking part:
- No. 1 Nelly Korda and No. 26 Tony Finau
- No. 2 Lilia Vu and No. 101 Luke List
- No. 7 Jeeno Thitikul and No. 25 Tom Kim
- No. 8 Celine Boutier and No. 29 Matthieu Pavon
In addition, young phenom Rose Zhang (No. 12) teams with No. 13 Sahith Theegala, who is the highest-ranked male golfer in the event.

Lexi Thompson, who announced she would be retiring at the end of 2024 but has somewhat walked that back in recent months, is teaming with Rickie Fowler. The two competed in this event when it was the QBE Shootout as well, and Thompson finished seventh with Tony Finau in 2017.
