Brandel Chamblee Makes Bold Claim About Jordan Spieth’s Swing Change
Brandel Chamblee said in a tweet that Jordan Spieth’s new swing makes him “half the player he used to be,” even though it helped to dig him “out of a slump.”
Spieth has recently changed his swing to a more over the top motion trying to encourage a nice slight fade of the golf ball. Many players on TOUR do this, including Dustin Johnson and Jon Rahm, so Spieth is in good company.
It’s hard to explain that move, other than by saying that it’s allowed him to dig his way out of a slump, to become roughly half the player he used to be.

Although Chamblee believes Spieth’s new swing is making Spieth half the player he once was, the stats are pointing towards his putting struggles being the reason.
Spieth is currently T142 with -2.744 strokes lost on the field this season. When Spieth was at the top of his game, putting was his strongest part of his game.

When you’re on the PGA TOUR, it doesn’t matter how you hit the golf ball off the tee if you’re struggling with greens. Just ask Kevin Kisner, he doesn’t drive the ball that far, but he is lights out around the greens and with his putter.
Which do you think it is for Spieth? His new swing or his poor putting?
