Brooks Koepka Doesn’t Want To Hear Excuses About LIV Golf and the Ryder Cup

Brooks Koepka has always been straight to the point, and that has not changed, especially considering his answers today when he was asked about why LIV Golfers were possibly not considered for a spot on the Ryder Cup team.

A lot has been made of regarding the Ryder Cup and the controversy surrounding LIV Golf. There are players who played exceptionally well on the LIV Tour and performed well in Major Championships, which is the only time we get to see mixed fields during the year as golf fans.

But snubs to Bryson DeChambeau, Talor Gooch, and potentially other LIV golfers who could have made an argument that they were deserving of a spot on this year’s Ryder Cup team have the golf community talking.

Brooks Koepka does not think there is very much to talk about:

“I mean, I had the same opportunity as every other LIV player, and I’m here.”

Koepka, insured by his triumph at the PGA Championship at Oak Hill earlier this year, did not earn a single point toward his Ryder Cup status on the PGA Tour this year because of his decision to play for LIV Golf. However, he was just $30,000 in winnings away from making the team as an automatic qualifier.

That’s making a single cut on the PGA Tour.

Koepka’s attitude toward competition and excuses is a significant contributor to his success on the course. He doesn’t like excuses, and he doesn’t like to make it sound like he was unfairly treated. He knows that as a LIV Golfer, he has to perform well when it counts.

His answer to those LIV guys who didn’t make the team and felt they were slighted?

“Play better. That’s always the answer.”
