Brooks Koepka, who shines brightest at the majors and is especially great in the PGA Championship, has withdrawn from this week’s AT&T Byron Nelson in Texas.

No reason was given for the WD, but Koepka has battled several injuries over the past couple of years. At the Valspar Championship in March, Koepka said it was “one of the first times in like five years I’ve been healthy.”

Koepka has been shaky this season, logging four top-20 finishes but also missing four cuts. That includes the Masters, which is the last tournament he played, so he will be going into next week’s major at Southern Hills without tuning up.

The two-time PGA Championship winner (2018-19) was also runner-up to Phil Mickelson at Kiawah Island last year, and has finished seventh or better in 12 of his last 17 starts in majors.

So despite the struggles, Koepka is one of the betting favorites next week, sitting at +1600 at DraftKings.

Koepka has been replaced in the field by Satoshi Kodaira. Tommy Fleetwood is also in the Byron Nelson after Danny Lee withdrew.

The tournament starts Thursday, and Masters champion Scottie Scheffler is the favorite.
