Amateur Golfer Had to Play in a U.S. Open Qualifier After Losing His Fantasy Football League
You may have heard or experienced some of the outrageous fantasy football punishments over the years.
With the U.S. Open nearing, there were qualifiers for the tournament. After coming in last in his fantasy league, an unprepared Mr. Eckert was forced to play in a U.S. Open qualifying round. This takes fantasy football punishments to the next level!

The more important question is, how did Eckert get into the U.S. Open Qualifying without meeting the 1.4 or lower handicap index?! Well, he entered as a professional golfer, and through this, you don’t have to meet the handicap requirement. So I’m sure he isn’t too upset about losing his amateur status.
To make matters even more interesting, Eckert was on the wrong starting hole; he barely made his tee time. Eckert sized up his 1st tee shot with his 3 wood with the outcome of a 20-yard drive that went directly behind a tree.
Eckert said:
“At that moment, I knew it was going to be a struggle.”
Eckert’s caddie explained the ludicrous circumstances to the playing partners that he had lost a fantasy football bet. Not the best spot to be in, but possible to make the best situation to have a good time given the scenario.
What was his score, you might ask? Eckert shot a 112 for the 18-hole round with four pars on the scorecards, with some other colorful numbers reported.
Eckert told ESPN on Tuesday, via text message:
“I’m pretty happy with the four pars, for sure… The walking got to me. I’m more of a cart guy myself.”
He is definitely a man of the people!
Poor guy, must have been quite embarrassing! However, Eckert and his playing partners now have a great story to share with family and friends, along with the others that were in his playing group.
Hats off to the guys in his fantasy league that made him endure this task and also to Eckert himself turning in a 112, well done!
