Bryson DeChambeau Helps Golf Channel Analyst Replicate Winning Bunker Shot
Golf Channel’s Johnson Wagner has been, in my opinion, one of the most welcome additions to golf coverage in recent.
Volunteering as the sacrificial tribute, Wagner has taken on some of the most treacherous shots that golfers have encountered at the Majors, including the 13th green at Valhalla and, most recently, Bryson DeChambeau’s 50-yard bunker shot into the 18th green at Pinehurst No. 2.
After watching Wagner thin one into The Deuce’s front steps, Bryson—entirely unannounced—helped guide Wagner into making a more confident, strategic shot, like the one he took to setup his second U.S. Open victory:

And while Wagner thought he chunked it, Bryson knew it was a success right out of the hazard. And if it had been rehearsed, Wagner found himself even closer than Bryson—maybe just a foot—to sink the “winning putt.”
While Wagner may want to forget a few of these very public and humiliating moments, it goes without saying that Bryson’s impromptu lesson and pulling off this miracle-level shot may be something he holds onto for a very long time.
