Bryson Was Offered an INSANE Amount of Money to Leave The Tour

Alternative leagues continue to pose a threat to the white-knuckle grip the PGA TOUR has on its athletes. But as the well-known phrase goes, “money talks, bull$hit walks,” and it appears that seems to be the angle Super Golf League (SGL) (formerly known as the Premier Golf League) will be taking.

The Saudi Arabian-backed league reportedly has offered World. No. 9 ranked Bryson DeChambeau £100 MILLION POUND—or $135 MILLION (USD)—to become the face of the SGL, which is particularly noteworthy given that Tiger Woods’ only made $121 million (USD) in PGA TOUR career earnings.

The news isn’t isolated, as many other PGA TOUR golfers have even approached with similar incentive offers and entered into non-disclosure agreements. As some may recall, just recently news broke that Ian Poulter was offered up to $25 million to join the SGL, and Lee Westwood admitted that he entered into a NDA with the SGL.  Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Justin Rose, and Rory McIlroy have all also admitted that they’ve been approached by the SGL.

Everyone in the top 100 of the world has been approached,” Phil Mickelson said on Wednesday from Saudi Arabia, site of the Saudi International which tees off Thursday. “I’m appreciative of the fact that there is competition, and that leverage has allowed for a much better environment on the PGA Tour.”

The PGA TOUR has taken a very strong stance against alternative leagues, going as far as claiming that any player who joined the then-called PGL would be suspended, and possibility even banned from the TOUR.

It’s too early to tell how this will play out, but if the SGL is capable of offering more money and event variety, which golfers and fans have requested ad nauseam, it may become increasingly difficult for the PGA TOUR not to make some serious changes.
