Bubba Watson Shows Off Golf Jetpack
There have certainly been some crazy advances in how we carry our clubs on the course with so much technology added to carts. Bubba Watson, however, just introduced a new concept that would blow golf carts out of the water.
While other companies are focused on upgrading the carts that are already on the market, Watson has higher expectations. His expectations are so high, he thinks golfers will be flying around the course soon, as he unveiled a new jetpack that he made for carrying clubs. Watson partnered with Oakley to make this contraption and he showed it off on “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno.
You may be sitting there wondering why on the world you would want to use a jetpack to carry your golf clubs but Watson sees several practical purposes for the new vehicle. First off, it could speed up the game with speeds of up to 50 mph and an altitude of up to 3,000 feet. And according to Bubba, the biggest advantage would be to see a hole from a bird’s eye view, a perspective that golfers don’t get on the course.

Bubba said on the show that it is his and Oakley’s goal to come up with a new type of motorized vehicle every year. And it certainly isn’t the first time the partnership has released an interesting option vehicle, as they released “Bubba’s Hover.” The vehicle was a hover cart that was able to travel over grass, water, sand, and more without damaging a course. That way there would be no need for a cart path.
Bubba didn’t have any idea when the jetpack would hit the open market for the public to use but he does think that players will use it. We’re not so sure, however, after the estimated cost is upwards of $200,000. Other sources have reported that the price could jump up to as high as $250,000 when it finally becomes available.
It’s hard to justify spending the cost of a house on a potential golf cart but it would certainly make an impression. Regardless, the jetpack is cool to see in action and we can’t wait to see what Bubba and Oakley come up with next.
