Bubba Watson Tied the PGA Championship Record with a Torn Meniscus

It seems that the Majors in professional golf always bring wild stories and this past week was no different from any other.

Bubba Watson had a chance at breaking the scoring record at the PGA Championship during his second round. If he could have made his birdie putt on 18 from about 23 feet away, he would have been the first player to shoot 62 in a PGA Championship.

He gave the putt a noble effort but it just wasn’t enough to get it in the hole, so he tapped in for 63.

However, as it turned out, Bubba was facing some difficult unseen circumstances at the PGA Championship.

The 2-time Masters Champion recently disclosed that he has been playing on a torn meniscus. Given the news, it is even more impressive that he was able to achieve the feat of playing all four rounds on the hilly terrain of the golf course.

And even given his condition, Bubba still managed to round out a top 30 finish in the PGA Championship.

Watson expects to be out for 4-6 weeks to take care of the issue which seems to mean surgery is on the way. Given this time-table we are highly unlikely to see Bubba compete in the U.S. Open starting June 16th, however time will tell!
