C.T. Pan Needed a Caddie – An Unlikely Option Stepped Up

C.T. Pan has employed the caddying expertise of Mike “Fluff” Cowan for several months, but at this weekend’s RBC Canadian Open, the two split after an accident.

Fluff slipped during Sunday’s event in Canada and was unable to continue. Without a caddie, Pan began looking for options, but the most unlikely one stepped up to take the bag.

Paul Emerson was that unlikely person. If you have never heard of him, don’t feel bad. He was there watching the event just like anyone who attended the RBC Canadian Open this past weekend and had the rare opportunity to hold the bag for a TOUR player.

After Fluff’s “nonserious” fall, Pan was in need of a caddie. Emerson, who resides in Aurora, Ontario, asked Pan if he wanted someone to help temporarily. He said yes, so Emerson walked on the course and got to work (via PGA TOUR):

“I helped Fluff get the bib off, threw it on, and started walking up the hole.”

Eventually, Emerson was relieved of his duties and was replaced by Mike Campbell, who is a caddie at Hamilton Golf and Country Club where this weekend’s event was held.

Pan would shoot a 1-under 69 and would finish -3 in a tie for 35th place.
