The pieces of a puzzle were starting to be put together. Last year, an executive with Golf Saudi stated that if the LIV Golf players were going to be kept out of the majors, they would consider creating their own majors.

Then in February, there was talk that LIV purchased land in North Augusta, which is actually across the Savannah River in South Carolina, to build a course where its players would compete just five miles away from Augusta National—home of the Masters.

But it turns out that those puzzle pieces don’t fit together.

Golf Magazine reported on the discovery of a website touting a new community in North Augusta that will be built with two 18-hole golf courses.

The 1,742-acre development called Cypress Shoals will have one of its courses designed by Tom Watson, who is closely associated with Augusta National as a two-time winner of the Masters. He also joined Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player as an honorary starter for the tournament.

As for the rumors that LIV Golf was connected to the property, there’s a company called LIV Development that owns a community called Ironwood in North Augusta. The developer is not associated with LIV Golf.
