The line-up consists of three different models.

The Mizuno Pro 221, which is a muscle back or bladed set of irons, the Mizuno Pro 223, which is a cavity back club that offers the control and feel of a blade while increasing distance, and the Mizuno Pro 225, which is the most forgiving club of the set allowing for extra forgiveness while still looking like a blade at address and in the bag.

Mizuno Golf had the following to say about each model of irons:

221-

“Inspired by the iconic blades of Mizuno past – evolved to be more playable through incremental refinements in shape and weight placement. Bevelled for the appearance of a shorter face profile and narrower top line – without loss of mass in the upper blade. With dramatically more compact scoring irons than its predecessors.

Grain Flow Forged in Hiroshima, Japan, with a soft copper underlay for a uniquely satisfying Mizuno sensation at impact.”

223-

“Everything tour players need to compete on extended, more demanding layouts – but never thought to ask for. The Mizuno Pro 223 conceals a ball speed-enhancing construction within the frame of a compact players cavity.

A completely new technology platform from 4-7 iron combining Mizuno’s tested Chromoly Forging and Flow Micro-Slot Grain Flow Forged in Hiroshima Japan with a soft copper underlay and uniquely satisfying Mizuno sensation at impact.”

225-

“The 2ND GEN of Mizuno’s staggering Hot Metal Blade – and the most playable of the Mizuno Pro series. More compact than the original with a revised CORTECH multi-thickness face for even quicker ball speeds.

Equally effective as a long / mid-iron alternative for elite players or a complete set for low to mid handicaps. Grain Flow Forged in Hiroshima, Japan, with a soft copper underlay for a uniquely satisfying Mizuno sensation at impact.”

All three sets of irons are aimed at the better players out there and low handicappers because they are all classified as “Player’s Irons.” These irons will all retail at $187.50 per club with the 221 available in 3-iron through pitching wedge, the 223 available in 4-iron through gap wedges, and the 225 available in 2-iron through gap wedge.

Along with the three iron sets Mizuno Golf has also announced their new driving iron, the Mizuno Pro Fli-Hi.

Mizuno Golf said the following about this new driving iron, “A long iron replacement with a priority on ball speed – the Mizuno Pro Fli-Hi is designed to be played with a graphite shaft. Relieved of the constraints needed to flow through a complete set, the Mizuno Pro Fli-Hi has a longer head length, a little extra offset and a wider sole than the Mizuno Pro 225 long irons. With Mizuno’s 1st ever Maraging MAS1C face in an iron – for vastly increased ball speeds.”

This iron will retail at $225 and be available in three different lofts. A 2-iron at 16.5 degrees, a 3-iron at 19 degrees, and a 4-iron at 21.5 degrees.

Mizuno Golf’s new driving iron and three iron sets will be available at retail starting February 3rd.

I can’t wait to try them all out and hit them, which set are you most excited for?
