Fantasy Golf Picks, Odds, and Predictions for the 2025 World Wide Technology Championship
2025 World Wide Technology Championship Fantasy Preview
Just when you thought you’d seen everything on the PGA TOUR, along comes a 23-year-old in just his third TOUR start to achieve something that most professionals never do: winning at golf’s top table.
Michael Brennan had laid waste to the PGA TOUR Americas, winning three times between August and September, and – in echoes of Matt McCarty 12 months prior – waltzed straight onto the main tour and won the Bank of Utah Championship.
He led by two shots heading into the final round at the Black Desert Resort, but any fears that Brennan would baulk at the finishing line were quickly dispelled.
A nerveless, almost mistake-free round of 66 carried Brennan to a comfortable four-shot lead, he became that rarest of beasts: a player winning on the PGA TOUR as a sponsor invite.
McCarty had won three times in quick succession on the Korn Ferry Tour leading into the 2024 Utah jaunt, where he prevailed, so clearly becoming a prolific winner at the lower grade is perfect preparation for this particular tournament and life on the PGA TOUR in general.
Winning may not be on the minds of the players at the World Wide Technology Championship this week so much as survival.
Only the top 100 players in the FedEx Cup standings will lock up their automatic playing privileges for 2026… with just three PGA TOUR events remaining this year, time is running out to gatecrash said top 100.
The 2025 World Wide Technology Championship Field
The head of this WWTC field is dominated by players who have no concerns about their PGA TOUR future… they’re simply in Mexico to play well and, perhaps, get their hands on some silverware.
J.J. Spaun and Ben Griffin are the sole representatives of the OWGR top-20, with Max Greyserman, Wyndham Clark, and Nick Taylor amongst the other most notables.
Brennan will make his first start as a fully fledged PGA TOUR member, while the impressive Johnny Keefer – a two-time winner on the Korn Ferry Tour this year – will be hoping to copy Brennan’s playbook by winning as a sponsor invite.
Austin Eckroat, who won this event 12 months ago, will return to defend his trophy.
This Week’s Course Preview
We’ve been to the El Cardonal track at the Diamante club in Los Cabos twice now, and you’d think that the surprise that this easy, wide open layout was designed by none other than Tiger Woods would have worn off by now.
But one of the greatest ball-strikers in golf history did lend his expertise to a venue at which pretty much any player in the field can contend.
Boasting some of the widest fairways on the PGA TOUR rotation – Adam Long found 56 of 56 here in 2023, long and short alike can thrive at El Cardonal, while the large Paspalum greens offer respite to all but the most errant on approach.
It would perhaps be an over-simplification to describe this WWTC as a putting contest, but with no ShotLink data from the last two years, it’s an assumption we’ll make given winning scores of -24 and -27.
There’s minimal tree coverage, just one water hazard, and fewer than 50 bunkers, so as long as the weather is set fair, the players have carte blanche to go about their business at will this week.
There are some considerable elevation changes, with significant uphill and downhill holes, which suggest that previous course form could be useful. But, all told, these are some of the easiest conditions the players will likely ever find on the PGA TOUR.
That said, there are holes that will concentrate the mind. The Par 4s at four, 12, and 15 all averaged over par in 2024, with the former – a long stretch at 483 yards serving up more than double the number of bogeys or worse than birdies.
Even the Par 5 fourteenth requires thought – there were seven scores of triple bogey or worse here in 2024, but there’s plenty of doozy holes too.
The Par 5s at one, six, and 16 are a doddle – the first saw 20 eagles made last year, as are drivable Par 4s at three and ten.
Weather Forecast for Los Cabos, Mexico
If wall to wall sunshine is your thing, book a flight out to Los Cabos this week.
There’s pretty much nothing separating the four days of action, according to the early forecast, with sunny spells and temperatures of around 84 degrees across the board. Paspalum is generally heat and humidity proof, so it’s unlikely that the greens will play firm and fast despite the sun baking them.
As for the wind, that could range from the norm on Thursday (9mph) to the considerable by Sunday (14mph), which suggests that we could have some fun crowning the champion in breezy conditions.
Last Year’s Results
Austin Eckroat landed a second PGA TOUR title of 2024 at least year’s WWTC.
The Cognizant Classic champion was front and center all week, making 30 birdies – the only player in the field to hit that milestone – to win by one from Justin Lower and Carson Young.
Eckroat finished the first three days inside the top five on the leaderboard, but still had plenty of work to do on Sunday – he was one adrift of 54-hole leaders Lower, Young, and Nico Echavarria, and tied with a considerable foe in Greyserman in T4.
But it was Eckroat who burst out on Sunday, making six birdies on his front nine and five on the back in a round of 63 that bested anything from anybody else near the top of the leaderboard.
Where to Play Fantasy Golf for this Week’s the 2025 World Wide Technology Championship
There’s plenty of potential for DFS gamers at the World Wide Technology Championship, with lots of different contests to suit every budget and style.
It’s not our favorite event in terms of creating a profile of player that can thrive – ‘making birdies’ isn’t that instructive, but even so here’s two contests we’ll be attacking this week:
- PGA TOUR $150k Sand Trap Special: Gamers that want to go big this week are recommended this $25 entry contest, which offers a stack of prizes of $50 and higher. Of course, all eyes will be on the $50k bounty for the winner.
- PGA TOUR $80k Drive the Green: It’s one of the most popular contests on the slate, but with good reason: for $5 entries, players have a chance to land a handsome top prize of $20k, or alternatively clinch a decent-sized consolation payout that will keep your bankroll topped up.

Top 5 Picks/Odds to Win the 2025 World Wide Technology Championship
Top Tier Pick # 1
Ben Griffin (Odds: 11/1, FPPG: 72.7, Salary: $10,500)
For a player ranked eighth in the world, and ten in the FedEx Cup standings, there’s no real reason for Ben Griffin to play in Los Cabos… other than the fact that, well, he wants to.
And why not? Griffin has been on a tear up ever since the Spring, when he landed a maiden PGA TOUR title alongside Andrew Novak at the Zurich Classic.
He then won the Charles Schwab Challenge solo, while racking up two major top-tens, a pair of solo second finishes, and a host of other PGA TOUR top ten finishes.
With quality in every department of the game, to us Griffin shapes up as the most likely winner this week – a brilliant player, in form, with rounds of 63, 66, 66, and 67 to his name at El Cardonal, surely has to be feared the most.
Key Stats:
- Scoring Average (adjusted) – 5th
- SG: Tee-to-Green – 18th
- SG: Putting – 18th
Top Tier Pick #2
Max Greyserman (Odds: 20/1, FPPG: 63.3, Salary: $9,800)
Max Greyserman has done everything but win on the PGA TOUR, racking up five second-place finishes since the start of the 2024 season.
Two of those have come since June, with a playoff defeat at the Rocket Classic followed by another strong solo second last time out at the Baycurrent Classic, where he finished just one stroke behind the winner, Justin Thomas.
With finishes of T33 or better in three majors this year, Greyserman is increasingly becoming a big-time player… how he’d love to shake that maiden tag this week.
And if his approach play is on the money, he surely can. The world number 31 led this event after 36 holes last year and was one shot shy of the leader with 18 holes to play… ultimately finishing solo fourth.
There’s no reason why Greyserman can’t lift a first PGA TOUR trophy this week in Mexico.
Key Stats:
- Total Birdies – 15th
- Putts Per Round – 26th
- SG: Putting – 34th
Mid-Tier Pick #1
Garrick Higgo (Odds: 25/1, FPPG: 73.5, Salary: $9,300)
It doesn’t take a huge amount of detective work to identify Garrick Higgo as a potential winner this week.
The South Africa is arguably playing the best golf of his career right now, parlaying T7 at the Procore Championship into solo second at the Sanderson Farms Championship and T4 at the Baycurrent Classic.
Higgo is already a two-time winner on the PGA TOUR… and yet, he’s never played this well so consistently before. That certainly bodes well.
He got progressively better on his El Cardonal debut last year, shooting rounds of 70-69-68-64 in that chronological order. More of the latter and Higgo will surely take some stopping this week…
Key Stats:
- N/A
Mid-Tier Pick #2
Mid-Tier Pick – Austin Eckroat (Odds: 55/1, FPPG: 55.4, Salary: $7,800)
His T11 at the Procore Championship in September helped steady the ship for Austin Eckroat, while ensuring that he heads into this title defense with confidence.
Ranked inside the top 50 in the world after winning here 12 months ago, Eckroat is simply a better player than a number of those ahead of him in the betting this week, which means that bettors are getting value by taking these odds of 55/1.
He’s won twice since the start of 2024, with his other victory coming in the Cognizant Classic – we’ve already mentioned how close the correlation is between PGA National and EL Cardonal.
Eckroat’s ball striking was back on point at the Procore Championship, where he also produced his best putting display since February. Could he parlay that into a successful title defense this week?
Key Stats:
- SG: Off-the-Tee – 45th
- SG: Approach – 61st
- Total Birdies – 65th
Low-Tier Pick
Justin Lower (Odds: 100/1, FPPG: 50.3, Salary: $7,200)
As unlikely as it sounds, few players in this field have taken to El Cardonal with such aplomb as Justin Lower.
Rounds of 63, three 65s, and a 67 within his last eight at this track are evidence of his suitability for the assignment, and given his form Lower will be hoping to improve upon that record this week.
After a tough year, he finished T3 at the Bank of Utah Championship last time out, gaining strokes on the field in all four of the main SG departments.
As well as finishing T2 in the WWTC last year, Lower also has a T3 to his name in the Mexico Open and T4 at the Corales Puntacana, so there’s just something about Paspalum greens that bring the best out of him.
Key Stats:
- Approaches from 100+ Yards – 42nd
- Proximity to Hole – 43rd
- Total Birdies – 98th
Sleeper Pick for the 2025 World Wide Technology Championship
Isaiah Salinda (Odds: 100/1, FPPG: 58.8, Salary: $7,100)
It’s no coincidence that Isaiah Salinda’s best putting performance of the season came in his best finish of the campaign; T3 at the Mexico Open.
A winner on Paspalum greens on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2024, Salinda has an affinity with the surface that seems to get the best out of his otherwise inconsistent putting stroke.
That short game is his achilles heel, as otherwise Salinda is long and straight off the tee and with some talent on approach – that was the mainstay of his T13 finish at the Procore Championship in September.
Although he has a penchant for withdrawing mid event when things aren’t going well, Salinda does have upside – better ball-striking of late, allied to the switch to Paspalum greens, suggests he may just find a little extra back in Mexico.
Key Stats:
- SG: Off-the-Tee – 10th
- Birdie Average – 26th
- Greens in Regulation – 38th
Alternative Sleeper Pick for the 2025 World Wide Technology Championship
David Lipsky (Odds: 150/1, FPPG: 51.8, Salary: $6,800)
In top-heavy lineups, David Lipsky has become an excellent balancing sleeper pick from the lower end of the salary cap.
He’s made the cut in eight of this last nine PGA TOUR starts, recording a pair of T3 finishes in that time at the 3M Open and John Deere Classic.
There’s not a lot that’s particularly flashy about Lipsky’s game, but he does have class with iron and wedge in hand and, when the flatstick flows, he does have that potential upside of consistency and, possibly, overachieving expectations.
A T6 finish here last year suggests that Lipsky can impress once again.
Key Stats:
- Approach Putt Performance – 17th
- Par 5 Birdie or Better Leaders – 20th
- SG: Approach – 46th
