Fantasy Golf Picks, Odds, and Predictions for the 2025 Wyndham Championship

2025 Wyndham Championship Fantasy Preview

Twenty birdies in your final 36 holes played… that’ll work!

Kurt Kitayama threatened to break 60 on both Saturday and Sunday at the 3M Open, and while he wasn’t able to join the 59 Club on either occasion, you sense that he probably doesn’t really care.

His birdie blitz was enough to secure a second PGA TOUR, his first at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in 2023, to confirm the notion that he’s one of the most gifted ball-strikers outside of the accepted elite.

Kitayama showed smarts and courage too, after dumping his approach shot into a bunker at the final hole. But even from an awkward stance, he was able to get up and down to win by one from Sam Stevens.

It’s the Wyndham Championship this week; the final event of the regular season. Only those in the Top 70 of the FedEx Cup standings will make it through to the St. Jude Championship next week… so who will cement their place in the field?

Last Week’s Fantasy Results

Last week’s 3M yielded us two top-7 finishes including Sam Stevens (2nd) and William Mouw (T7) – two lightly talked about players who ended up putting us in a great position to cash in.

The 2025 Wyndham Championship Field

Five of the world’s top-30 tee it up at the Sedgefield Country Club this week, with Keegan Bradley, Hideki Matsuyama, Robert MacIntyre, Ben Griffin, and Sungjae Im all assured of their places in the first FedEx Cup playoff event.

Defending champion Aaron Rai, last year’s runner up Max Greyserman, Kitayama, and Matt Fitzpatrick are some of the other names that catch the eye, while there’s some familiar faces in around that 70 spot in the FedEx Cup standings.

Jordan Spieth (50) is probably safe, but Tony Finau (60) and Rickie Fowler (61) are amongst those with work still to do. Nicolai Hojgaard (71), Keith Mitchell (72), Adam Scott (85), and Tom Kim (89) are amongst those hoping to burgle their way into the St. Jude field.

This Week’s Course Preview

While bombers are able to club down and shoot low rounds at Sedgefield Country Club, this is a venue that has long been the preserve of the short and accurate.

Aaron Rai landed his maiden PGA TOUR title 12 months ago, while the likes of Lucas Glover, Tom Kim, and Kevin Kisner are amongst his contemporaries in the winner’s circle – each sharing a kinship of precision over power.

So while other PGA TOUR courses are now the prey of the big hitters, Sedgefield remains resolutely in the sights of the strategic plotters.

The reasons for that are obvious, with typically thick rough left to grow long in a bid to catch out those who miss the narrow(ish) fairways. The routing of many of these holes also prevents players from cutting corners and taking shortcuts – either hit in the short grass or prepare to hit blind or blocked approaches into small Bermuda greens.

Measuring just 7,131 yards for its Par 70, no player is out of the hunt this week in terms of distance, although the presence of only two Par 5s means that the bombers have less of an edge.

Donald Ross has managed to create a positional golf course with only a smattering of bunkers, while water is in play on just six holes. The track instead relies upon its rough and small, occasionally tricky greens to upset the applecart.

And it’s not as if Sedgefield is hard either – winning scores of -18, -20, -20, -15, and -21 have reigned here in the past five years, but it’s just the way that the players go about accumulating those scores that’s somewhat different.

Eleven of the 18 holes averaged under par in 2024, with the pair of Par 5s at five and 15 by far and anyway the easiest on the premises. Other than that, the main scoring holes are a buffet of mid-range Par 4s… hit the fairway, hit an accurate approach, make the putt.

There’s a couple of challenging stretches though; not least two Par 4s that just tip over the 500-yard mark – one of those is the eighteenth too, so perhaps prepare for some late fireworks on Friday.

Weather Forecast for Greensboro, NC

There’s an excessive heat warning in place for Greensboro at the start of the week, with temperatures expected to hit 91 degrees from Monday through Wednesday.

That may ensure Sedgefield plays firm and fast, although greenkeepers may be happy to know that ‘light rain’ is in the forecast for Thursday and Friday, with cooler temperatures also taking over.

That rain could make things feel fresher over the weekend, with temperatures of 77 degrees more agreeable. But the change could bring in stronger winds, with 12-14mph in the early predictions.

GREENSBORO WEATHER

Last Year’s Results from the Wyndham Championship

The most extraordinary round of golf from Max Greyserman on Sunday at last year’s Wyndham Championship opened the door for Aaron Rai to win his maiden PGA TOUR title.

Greyserman’s card showed two eagles, four birdies, a bogey, a double bogey, and a quadruple bogey on a Sunday that he wouldn’t forget in a hurry.

That left him with a round of 69… five shots worse off than Rai’s excellent closing 64.

The Brit, who trailed Greyserman by three shots with a round to play, quickly set to work on closing the gap, posting four birdies in a row from three through six.

And as Greyserman imploded on the back nine, Rai did what you simply have to do at Sedgefield – he hit the ball straight and true, posting two birdies but, just as importantly, no scores of bogey or worse as he leapfrogged the 54-hole leader to win by two.

Where to Play Fantasy Golf for this Week’s the 2025 Wyndham Championship

A week after we took a leap into the notoriously volatile 3M Open, we’re back on much more solid ground this week – let’s follow in the player profile that has reaped rewards at Sedgefield over the years in these two contests.

  • GOLF TOUR $800k Summer Sand Trap: There’s a mammoth top prize of $200k available in this $25 entry game, with a much smaller field than some of the other big purse contests. Consequently, there’s stacks of good-sized payouts to be won.
  • GOLF TOUR $300k Drive the Green: If $25 is out of your budget range, stick to this $5 multi-entry game instead – there’s still a $300k purse to be won, headlined by a top payout of $50k.

This Week’s Fantasy Notes for the 2025 Wyndham Championship

You can load up the roll call of former Wyndham Championship winners at your leisure, but needless to say it features a stack of short and accurate guys who have made a living from precision golf.

We’ve mentioned a few already, but you can also throw in Webb Simpson, Davis Love III, Ryan Moore, Brandt Snedeker, Henrik Stenson… the list of positional golfers goes on.

Bombers can fire good rounds at Sedgefield – both Greyserman and Beau Hossler shot 60 here 12 months ago, but doing that for 72 holes is not easy… in fact, just being naturally accurate seems to be a real advantage here.

So Driving Accuracy, that old chestnut, is a stat that actually holds plenty of weight at Sedgefield, and we also like the correlation with the Sony Open at Waialae.

There have been scores of players finishing inside the top-five of both events, which comes as no surprise when you consider that Waialae also offers an edge to the most accurate in the field – it’s a short Par 70 lined with Bermuda, which also helps to explain the connection.

Top 5 Picks/Odds to Win the 2025 Wyndham Championship

Top Tier Pick # 1

Keegan Bradley (Odds: 25/1, FPPG: 76.2, Salary: $10,300)

When creating our DFS drafts, it’s only natural to side with the most obvious winner of the tournament within our top tier picks.

Some may argue that Matt Fitzpatrick is playing the best golf in this field, but he’s only made one prior visit to Sedgefield and besides, isn’t particularly prolific on American soil.

Hideki Matsuyama is showing signs of life, but this assignment may come a few weeks too early in his recovery curve, so preference instead is for Keegan Bradley, who has won twice on the PGA TOUR in the past year.

This is perhaps the best version of Keegan we have seen, and don’t forget he’s desperate to qualify automatically for the Ryder Cup team – he doesn’t want the attention of having to pick himself as a wildcard.

Make no bones about it, Bradley will have earned his place on the roster… a win this week will all but guaranteed his automatic qualification.

Key Stats:

  • Par 4 Birdie or Better Leaders – 21st
  • Proximity to Hole – 28th
  • Driving Accuracy – 56th

Top Tier Pick #2

Ben Griffin (Odds: 25/1, FPPG: 68.2, Salary: $10,100)

A week off to reset and recalibrate may just have done Ben Griffin the world of good as he hunts down an unlikely Ryder Cup place.

One more win between now and the autumn will all but secure his berth, with Sedgefield – where he’s finished T4 and T7 within three trips – as likely a destination as any for that in his home North Carolinan stomping ground.

Prior to missed cuts at the John Deere Classic and the British Open – the latter understandable given his lack of exposure to Links golf, Griffin embarked on a reign of terror that saw him win the Charles Schwab Challenge, finish second at the Memorial Tournament, and post four finishes of T14 or better.

Key Stats:

  • Total Birdies – 7th
  • SG: Approach – 32nd
  • SG: Putting – 49th

Mid-Tier Pick #1

Lucas Glover (Odds: 35/1, FPPG: 62.5, Salary: $8,900)

As a painfully short-hitting 45-year-old, sadly for him there aren’t many places that Lucas Glover can win on the PGA TOUR anymore.

But the good news for him is that Sedgefield is very much in his range… and the veteran has the current form in the bank to suggest he can back up his 2023 title here.

Glover has been doing what he always does: hit fairways, be elite with irons and wedges, and then hope his putter is hot enough to give him a chance.

It’s done exactly that this past month, with top-ten finishes at the John Deere Classic and Travelers Championship – outperforming numerous classy operators at the latter – backed by T23 at the British Open.

Key Stats:

  • Driving Accuracy – 3rd
  • SG: Approach – 8th
  • Scoring Average (adjusted) – 8th

Mid-Tier Pick #2

Chris Kirk (Odds: 90/1, FPPG: 57.9, Salary: $7,200)

Here’s intriguing betting value on a guy with a best of T11 at Sedgefield, who’s a two-time runner-up at the correlating Waialae and who flushed his irons and wedges last week,

Chris Kirk gained a cumulative +5.46 on the field on approach at the 3M Open, and given that he generally drives the ball straight and true, the basic building blocks of success at Sedgefield are in place.

Putting has been something of a problem lately, but there’s no doubting the possibility that Kirk will improve given the increasingly rare chance to shine on Bermuda greens, where much of his best work with the flatstick has come.

T2 at the Rocket Classic at the end of June, could Kirk go one better this week?

Key Stats:

  • SG: Approach – 47th
  • Par 4 Birdie or Better Leaders – 61st
  • Driving Accuracy – 73rd

Low-Tier Pick

Nico Echavarria (Odds: 100/1, FPPG: 61.3, Salary: $7,200)

There’s some nice converging trends about Nico Echavarria this week.

He finished T22 at Sedgefield last year, shooting rounds of 66 and three 68s. This is a course that rewards his fairways-and-greens approach, which has also taken the Colombian to second place at the correlating Sony Open.

Echavarria missed the cut at the British Open, despite gaining strokes on the field on approach through 36 holes, but prior to that had shown nicely in T6 and T22 finishes at the Rocket Classic and Scottish Open.

A two-time winner on the PGA TOUR, Echavarria has the class to make his skillset count at courses that suit his eye and weaponry.

Key Stats:

  • SG: Putting – 8th
  • Driving Accuracy – 47th
  • Proximity to Hole – 50th

Sleeper Pick for the 2025 Wyndham Championship

Austin Eckroat (Odds: 90/1, FPPG: 55.2, Salary: $7,100)

A switch to Bermuda greens could be just the tonic for Austin Eckroat this week.

He continues to play lovely golf off the tee and on approach, setting up countless birdie opportunities. But the flatstick is not particularly cooperating at the moment, so maybe a switch to Bermuda greens – and specifically surfaces Eckroat has had joy on before – may help.

Eckroat was +1.14 on the greens at Sedgefield on his way to a solo sixth finish last year; if he can replicate that, there’s every chance of similar or even better given how well he’s flushing the ball right now.

Key Stats:

  • Driving Accuracy – 26th
  • Proximity to Hole – 35th
  • Total Birdies – 48th

Alternative Sleeper Pick for the 2025 Wyndham Championship

David Lipsky (Odds: 125/1, FPPG: 48.7, Salary: $6,800)

An outrageous round of 64 on Sunday swept David Lipsky to T3 at the 3M Open.

He was T3 at the Rocket Classic at the start of the month too, so quite why Lipsky has been made available so cheaply this week is anybody’s guess.

Naturally accurate and precise, the American has a decent record at the correlating Waialae and has done okay at Sedgefield too; although not breaking the top-20 in three visits, he has posted five rounds of 68 or better in that stretch.

Key Stats:

  • Scrambling – 33rd
  • Driving Accuracy – 41st
  • SG: Approach – 42nd
