Farmers Insurance is Not Expected to Renew its PGA TOUR Sponsorship
Earlier this week, we reported that there were some signs indicating that Farmers Insurance could be discontinuing its sponsorship of one of the bigger events on the West Coast Swing: the Farmers Insurance Open hosted by Torrey Pines.

Sadly, it seems those rumors are picking up steam and it’s appearing to be more and more likely to come to fruition.
Earlier today, Josh Carpenter from the Sports Business Journal posted on X (f/k/a Twitter) that it appears unlikely that Farmers will be renewing its sponsorship of the event once the current contract comes to a close in 2026.
Sources: Farmers Insurance is not expected to renew its deal for the Torrey Pines PGA Tour event when it expires in 2026.
It’s part of a larger scaling back in golf for the company, which also did not renew its partnership with Rickie Fowler: https://t.co/EOduYhp3Dh

Like we noted, it appears part of a larger strategy that is being implemented by Farmer’s new CEO, Raul Vargas, who appears to be steering the company away from golf entirely (in addition to implementing some severe cost savings measures).
Indeed, Rickie Fowler appears to be the first casualty here, as Farmer’s elected to not continue his sponsorship at the start of this year.
Well there could be several reasons why Farmers is deciding to cut ties, it cannot be ignored that the PGA Tour leaning harder on its sponsors for bigger financial commitments is part of the equation. Add in the decreased ratings and continued exodus of prominent golfers (and with no favorable solution to the LIV dilemma insight), sponsors are struggling to continue to hold the line.
We will continue to report on this story, as well as rumors and reports of other sponsors looking to go in a different direction.
