FIRST LOOK: Rapsodo Debuts New MLM2PRO Launch Monitor and Golf Simulator

After being named the top consumer launch monitor three years in a row, Rapsodo is debuting a new version of its Mobile Launch Monitor at the PGA SHOW equipped with several new and noteworthy features.

The Mobile Launch Monitor 2 Pro (MLM2PRO) looks to pick up where the first generation MLM left off, big offering everyday golfers accurate data captured by radar technology and machine learning to bring pro-level data to help users analyze their swing by monitoring metrics like distance, ball speed, smash factor with data visualization, club gapping, shot dispersion, and more.

But in addition to capturing data through radar, the MLM2PRO—compatible with iOS and Android devices—will feature two cameras that enable it to capture additional points, including spin and unlocking a full golf simulation feature, making the MLM2PRO the official personal launch monitor of Golf Digest’s Hot List.

The two built-in cameras on the MLM2PRO’s base replace the need for users of the original MLM to use their iOS devices to track the data and videos. This new feature opens up the MLM2PRO to both Android and iOS platforms, providing users the ability to sync videos as a competitive advantage.

These cameras capture ball flight and detailed impact view to provide shot trace and accurate data capture.

Through the dual-camera functionality, one is a wide-angle camera known as the Shot Vision camera, which records video with shot trace.

The second camera is a high-speed shutter Impact Vision camera, which records each shot at impact. It utilizes a 240-fps shutter to capture impact and initial ball flight to measure spin rate and spin axis.

While mobile phones and tablets are not needed to operate the MLM2PRO, users can use the Rapsodo Swing Vision feature that pairs these items with the device to have multiple angles of each golf swing, allowing golfers to capture down-the-line and face-on swing replay videos so they can get more out of their practice time.

Specifically, with the MLM2PRO, Rapsodo will introduce golf simulation including Rapsodo Range, a virtual driving range, and Rapsodo Courses, which will consist of over 30,000 courses globally.

Rapsodo Range will provide trajectory and shot trace indoors. While Rapsodo Courses gives players the ability to practice on their local course ahead of a big event or play a nationally recognized course on their bucket list.

Rapsodo has provided users thousands of course options through their MLM2PRO Premium Membership, so users will have an extensive list to select from and play virtually anywhere in the world.

Additionally, the MLM2PRO is compatible with multiple simulation software providers including E6 Connect and Awesome Golf to give players a variety of options to suit their game. More integrations are scheduled to continue to add to MLM2PRO users’ subscription options.

The MLM2PRO provides even more advanced data for athletes to analyze. In addition to the original data, the new portable launch monitor will provide descent angle, spin rate and spin axis.

The ability to measure both spin metrics is an invaluable addition to the latest golf monitor, and was possible through the use of Rapsodo’s new RPT (Rapsodo Precision Technology) golf balls.

The Impact Vision camera in the MLM2PRO records and processes images of the ball’s rotation to calculate the ball’s spin rate and spin axis. Adding these key metrics improves the ability to determine overall carry distance and path.

The MLM2PRO is built for both iOS and Android users, and will come with a sleeve of three Callaway RPT Chrome Soft X Golf Balls with Rapsodo Precision Technology.

Retailing for $699.99 and including a one-year premium subscription, the MLM2PRO will be available for pre-orders starting February 1st—just in time to start gearing up the game for those early spring matches—and with widespread availability by March 31st.
