FIRST LOOK: Scotty Cameron New Phantom X 12.5 Putter
Scotty Cameron has become the gold standard for putters. Indeed, much like Bob Vokey’s wedges, Scotty Cameron putters can often be spotted in the hands of the guy standing on the 18th green on Sunday with his hands in the air.
Just ask Tiger Woods.

And that’s because Scotty turns out precision putters, regardless of whether you prefer the more traditional Newport 2 blade or technologically designed Phantom mallets (and don’t get me started on the limited edition releases like the Terylliums and Button Backs).
And to help round out the current stable of offerings, Scotty Cameron is releasing the Phantom X 12.5 mallet putter.
The Phantom X 12.5 has been designed for players wanting a stable mallet with more toe flow, along with a new alignment option. Additionally, left-handed players won’t be left out, as the Phantom X 12.5 model will be available in both right and left-handed models.
Further distinct from the 10 different Phantom X mallet model variations (featuring 5 different head styles), the Phantom X 12.5 provides golfers is equipped with a low-bend shaft configuration—designed to aim directly down the target line and promote an arc path for more toe flow in the putting stroke— and a tour-inspired single milled sight line.
As best said by Scotty Cameron himself:
“Every time we introduce a new putter line, I receive requests from tour players and dedicated golfers for additional setups and configurations. Phantom X 12.5 is the result of some of those requests. I added the low-bend shaft for extra toe flow and also designed a new alignment option by milling a single sight line down the center painted black for a very clean look from address. It really sets up nicely. Adding this new model also gave me the opportunity to make a left-handed version designed so everyone can take advantage of the performance benefits of the Phantom X 12.5.”
And true to Scotty Cameron’s tour-level quality precision and materials, the Phantom X 12.5 is comprised of a unique combination of 303 stainless steel and 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum for increased MOI, optimal weight distribution, forgiveness, improved sound and responsive feedback.
And if you happen to further custom-fit your Phantom X to your putter stroke, two, customizable stainless steel heel-toe weights and stepless steel shafts, as well as the Pistolero Plus grip in cement gray with gloss black paintfill, allow each golfer to fine tune the advanced stability weighting.
Just in time for Christmas, the Scotty Cameron Phantom X 12.5 putters will be available in North America on December 12, 2019, and worldwide on February 14, 2020 through Titleist authorized golf shops. Retail price will be $429 for a putter that can complement your game for the rest of your life.
