First Look: Titleist Debuts New T200 and T300 Irons
Last week we highlighted that Titleist recently debuted the TS Hybrids and U-Series Utility Irons at the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club, in addition to the T100, 620 MB and 620 CB irons at the 2019 U.S. Open Championship at Pebble Beach.
At the conclusion of the article, we noted that it appears the T100 might be the next-gen AP2, and it appears that Titleist’s newest products being debuted have confirmed that:

Only a few hours after Gary Woodland secured his first major at Pebble Beach, Titleist announced the debut of the T200 and T300 irons at this week’s Travelers Championship, being hosted at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, CT.
Immediately noticeable about the new irons is the name. Indeed, it appears that Titleist will be discontinuing the “AP” model series, with the T100 becoming the AP2, the T200 becoming the AP3 and the T300 becoming the TS1.

Also immediately apparent is the new, more modern design of the new Titleist irons, a noticeable departure from prior Titleist products which maintained a more traditional appearance. While the T200 features a screw-weight stamped with MAX IMPACT located in its cavity, the T300 features a weight that’s simply labeled Mi in its deeper cavity.
Although Titleist hasn’t released any additional information concerning the T100, T200 and T300 irons, the design change appears to indicate that Titleist is all about Titleist Speed, while also offering incrementally increasing levels of forgiveness. The design overhaul also makes it appear that golfers will be able seamlessly mix-and-match their irons and do combo sets (e.g., more forgiving long irons with better player’s irons in the short, scoring clubs), regardless of which series you’re interested in.
In sum, Titleist has entered the Tour Validation process with ten new products—the TS2 and TS3 Hybrids, U500 and U510 Utility Irons and 620 MB, 620 CB, T100, T200 and T300 Irons.

While I can’t imagine Titleist having too many more new products being released in the new future (except, maybe, the new Vokey SM8 Wedges), it’ll be very interesting to see how Tour players respond to the new equipment in anticipation of it being released to the general public.
