Five Takeaways From LIV Tulsa
The fourth LIV event of the year in Tulsa, Oklahoma, made for an exciting finish amidst a whole host of talking points.

Another playoff, varied course conditions, interrupted broadcasts, and torn ligaments, here’s all you need to know from the weekend.
- Dustin Johnson bagged another cool $4,000,000 for the individual win in Oklahoma. It is his second individual win on the tour. The three-man playoff included Cameron Smith and Brendan Grace, the latter of whom bagged the Team win as part of Stinger GC.
- The broadcast was seemingly cut off the air during Sunday’s play, with only three holes to go, as DJ, Cam Smith and Brendan Grace were neck-and-neck, leaving viewers confused as to why they saw an episode of Penn & Teller instead of DJ’s ball speed. The CW channel took some heat for that decision on social media.
- A video of Brooks Koepka handing out flowers to all of LIV Golf’s staff mothers went viral on Mother’s Day – some feel-good content for the fans at home.
- Some not-so-good news – Lee Westwood was injured this week after a ‘lengthy’ run before Saturday’s round, straining the medial ligament in his left leg.
He said:
“Rather than play today, just give it another day to recover. If you’re not going to go out there 100%, then there’s not really any point going out there”
- There were lots of comments surrounding the condition of the course in Tulsa, with a few camera angles showing the winter damage the greens staff have faced. Cedar Ridge Country Club. A fairly detailed analysis of the course is available here, but in short – winterkill is a demon to all Turf workers and golf lovers, and golf in the month of May will never show a course in its best light. Superintendent Eddie Roach Jr explained on Twitter:
“All professional golf events will water heavily at the beginning of the week and then dry down thru the week. Unfortunately, the excessive humidity we have been experiencing doesn’t allow for a quick dry down so conditions were wetter than expected early on. Rain no bueno!”

Who is looking good for Oak Hill? We know Brooks Koepka comes alive in majors, at least until Sunday afternoon.
Cameron Smith, reigning Open champion, cannot be written off after making his way into the playoff yesterday. Or Perhaps Phil shows up in blistering form once again, backing up his T-2 at Augusta with a run at a third PGA title?
