It’s now been a week since the tragic accident that claimed the lives of 8 people including NBA legend, Kobe Bryant, and his daughter, Gigi. While Kobe wasn’t known to play golf, he was known to many of today’s star players growing up. We have seen many players on the tour paying tribute to Kobe this week and now, the PGA Tour with their own tribute of the Sunday pin location.

Sunday’s hole location on No. 16 @WMPhoenixOpen was 24 paces on and 8 from the left to honor NBA legend. It goes without saying that this tragedy has sent ripples through the sports world. Sunday’s final pairing was something out of a NBA finals game 7. When it looked like Finau was about to win it all, Webb Simpson hit a shot from deep, forcing the pair into OT.

Only two players remained as they headed to 18. Finau put his tee shot into the church pews while Simpson left his tee shot right in the middle of the fairway. Two solid shots lead to a battle of flat stick. Much like he did in regulation, Simpson drained another putt from deep to win! The amount of mental toughness that it took for Simpson to come from behind and win in OT would surely make Mamba proud.

Ed started playing golf when he was 18. It started out as a hobby and something he liked to do but by 2014 it had turned into a full blown obsession. Since then Ed has committed himself to improving and learning more about the game. He doesn’t work in the golf industry, he’s not a teaching pro, he’s a guy who just loves the game and enjoys sharing his thoughts with others who share the same passion.
