Genesis Invitational Finds Its Replacement Course Amidst LA Wildfires
Tiger Woods’s Genesis Invitation will move from Los Angeles to the San Diego area as the Los Angeles wildfires continue to threaten Riviera Country Club, its usual host.
Reports are now circulating that the tournament will be played at Torrey Pines, the site of this weekend’s Farmers Insurance Open:
I have the understanding that Torrey Pines will be selected to host the Genesis Invitational.
The combination of 1) keeping it in California and 2) proximity to the original event — were some of the factors that pushed it over the edge.

The wildfires have spread to various areas of Los Angeles and have threatened The Riv, as last week, the PGA TOUR stated it would be moving away from that course and heading to another as a precaution.
The tournament moving could also explain the group of withdrawals from the Farmers Insurance Open this weekend. Collin Morikawa, Xander Schauffele, and Mackenzie Hughes are among the bigger names who chose to WD from that tournament, likely not wanting to play the course twice.
