Golf Ball Lands in Trash at Waste Management Phoenix Open
Hayden Buckley was playing the 18th at +5 with no hope of making the cut. Looking to get off the course and out as soon as possible, he then played a shot that will at least give him something to remember this tournament by.
His second landed in a trash bag in one of those slightly bizarre moments that golf often throws up. The kind of moments that make a tournament before we crown a winner on Sunday.
2nd time I’ve seen this in less than a year. Hayden Buckley just hit his ball into the trash can. Of course, it happens at the @WMPhoenixOpen! pic.twitter.com/KtWvLgjfgT

When Hayden reaches his ball, a spectator explains to him that he saw the golf ball land in the trash bag.
The rules official hovering around tells Hayden that he doesn’t have to retrieve the ball, but he does anyway to cheers from the crowd.
