Grant Horvat is ditching TaylorMade irons in favor of Takomo, a brand that has gained tons of notoriety over the past few years for offering quality and affordable golf products. Horvat revealed on Friday he is now a part owner in the company, a big reason he is leaving TaylorMade irons and wedges in his past.

TaylorMade clubs will still make up the rest of Horvat’s bag, but in an announcement on January 3, the former Good Good content creator revealed he is taking on his biggest challenge yet: part ownership in a club manufacturer.

Horvat’s announcement read:

“I never could have imagined that when I started my YouTube golf journey that it would lead to this moment. It’s with immense gratitude and excitement that I share some incredible news:

“I am official an owner of Takomo Golf.

Being an owner of a golf company has always been a dream of mine, and today, that dream becomes a reality. Golf has given me so much in life, and Tokomo’s mission aligns perfectly with my passion to grow the game.

Takomo stands out for its commitment to delivering tour-quality equipment while keeping golf accessible and inclusive, empowering people to not only enter the game but also grow and thrive within it.

I am still a TaylorMade athlete, and will be playing the driver, woods, and ball. I am excited to continue working with their incredible team and players.”

The announcement is truly a testament to what YouTube golf and content creation in the space has evolved into. A few years ago, these players were doing well, making great money, but still not totally accepted by golf in general.

Now, Horvat is breaking down a huge barrier with part ownership in a company. Takomo is a quality brand that has inclusion in mind, making irons for any price range.

The announcement drew plenty of reactions from those involved in the golf community. One of the most notable is Phil Mickelson, who has played several matches against Horvat and will partner with him on a 2v2 series this year:

“This is so very cool. Congratulations on all your success and these clubs will help us dominate our 2v2 matches this year!”
