ABC WXYZ of Michigan believes that the fire started around 10 a.m. this morning and the Detroit Free Press stated that the fire is believed to have started in the clubhouses attic and the roof to the building has collapsed.
The story is still developing, but it does not appear that the firefighters will be able to stop the flames anytime soon.
Longtime Oakland Hills member Greg Kampe: “It’s hard to talk when you’re crying.” No word on cause yet. There has been construction ongoing on the patio, but not sure if anything happened there. https://t.co/1kCBmt38ua

Oakland Hills has two Donald Ross designed courses on property. The club has hosted six U.S. Opens, three PGA Championships, two U.S. Amateurs, two U.S. Senior Opens and the Ryder Cup.
Additionally, the club is one of four courses ever to host the U.S. Open, PGA Championship, Ryder Cup and U.S. Amateur. Pinehurst No. 2, Oak Hill and Scioto being the other three.
Hopefully everyone made it out of the clubhouse safe and all of the memorabilia inside is able to be recovered.
