Viktor Hovland is a name that is not discussed enough and that needs to change.

The Oklahoma State product has had an amazing year and is primed to explode next year.

Hovland captured his third win of the year this past weekend at the Hero World Challenge after firing a 66 in Sunday’s final round. Although Morikawa’s atrocious 4 over 76 definitely aided in Hovland’s victory, a win is a win.

Alongside his most recent win, Viktor Hovland won the World Wide Technology Championship (which happened to be the last tournament he played in) and the BMW International Open this year.

So three wins, including back to back victories is quite impressive, but let’s highlight the rest of Hovland’s 2021 year:

  • Out of 26 events he has played this year, only missed one cut (THE PLAYERS Championship).
  • Two second place finishes – Workday Championship at The Concession and Farmer’s Insurance Open.
  • Three other top 10 finishes – TOUR Championship, Wells Fargo Championship and Valspar Championship.
  • Major finishes – 149th Open Championship T12, PGA CHAMPIONSHIP T30 and Masters T21.

Quite a year that is. 2021 seems to have been a turning point for Hovland’s career and I believe there is a Major victory or two on the horizon for this superstar next year.

He should be able to carry that momentum into 2022 and possibly solidify himself as the world’s No. 1 ranked golfer.
