Jack Nicklaus said in a recent interview that golf is “just not really any fun” anymore due to his age because he plays so poorly, and that he has not swung a club since being an honorary starter at The Masters in April.

Nicklaus is an 18-time Major Champion, leading Tiger Woods in a record that the Big Cat will likely not reach due to his own ailments.

At 83 years old, Nicklaus said his game is really non-existent anymore and that he does not have fun playing because he does not play well.

The Golden Bear said to the Palm Beach Post:

“I would like to go play again. I play so poorly anymore it’s just really not any fun. And I run out of golf balls. People always say they want to play how I do. Well, now they can. In fact, I don’t think want to play like I do.”

He added that he has not swung a club since April, when he was an honorary starter at The Masters, like he normally is:

We know that at the peak of his career, Nicklaus was dominant. His competitive spirit still lives within him, as at the 2019 Masters, he hit a bad tee shot as an Honorary Starter, and when the crowd applauded, he waved their cheers off.

We hope to see Jack back on the course before Augusta next April.

Inspired by the likes of Woods, Palmer, McIlroy, and Koepka, Joey plays over 100 times a year in the South Central Pennsylvania area. When he isn't golfing, he is probably thinking about golfing, but he might be watching other sports, writing, or playing poker.
