Jason Day’s Pre-Round Warm-Up Routine

In our never ending journey to improve our golf game, we sometimes focus too much on the drills or skills that we already have nailed down.  Seldom do we ever work on pre-shot routines and fitness tips, and you hardly ever see golfers working on solid pre-round routines and warm-ups.

Jumping out of your car twelve minutes before a tee-time and hitting six balls only puts you in overdrive and your tempo will never be calm, especially on the first few holes.

So what does it take to be the No. 1 golfer on the planet?  A lot of hard work, practice, patience, visualization, and of course, a solid warm up and pre-round routine.  Jason Day executes this routine before every round of golf, and we should take the time to emulate (sort of) what this guy does.  The proof is in the success.  Take a look at Jason’s current 2016 stats in TOUR:

  • Strokes Gained: Putting: 1st
  • Strokes Gained: Total: 1st
  • Birdie Average: 5th
  • Sand Save Percentage: 2nd
  • Total Putting: 3rd
  • Putting Average: 2nd

The list goes on.  But the point here is, try to prepare for your round the same way Jason prepares for his.  Get yourself in the zone, kick out the distractions, and focus on all the important things that you work on week in and week out.
