Max Homa and longtime friend/caddie Joe Greiner parted ways last week in what was a somewhat shocking move. However, Greiner was not out of work for long as he has already locked up his first gig after choosing to leave his longtime friend.

Justin Thomas announced late last night that his normal caddie, Matt “Rev” Minister, hurt his back this week and was unable to handle carrying the bag at Augusta.

However, he tapped Greiner as a last-minute replacement:

“Unfortunately, my caddie Rev hurt his back this week and isn’t able to be on the bag with me this week at Augusta. Rev is resting up so he gets better soon. I’m very lucky Joe Greiner is a great friend and able to help me out last minute.”

Homa has had an unbelievably bad stretch of golf lately as his game has truly struggled to get back on track from how he played early last year.

Many blamed his switch from Titleist to COBRA for the woes, but Homa's game truly struggled going into the late season on the PGA TOUR in 2024 prior to the equipment change.

On Tuesday, he talked about the split from Greiner, adding that it was not his choice:

"It was not my choice so it sucked, but we always had a deal that we're friends first and friendship mattered more than the work thing, and he was wise enough to do what he did. It's hard, but I was happy that he did it. It sucks because I just pictured always walking fairways with Joe. I would rather walk life with Joe forever than this dumb game. So, it's been hard to process, but also good in a way, because friendship does matter more than any of this stuff."

So far this year, Homa has made just two cuts in eight total starts on TOUR. He qualified for The Masters through a T3 finish in 2024.
