There’s something different about playing courses designed by successful professional golfers, such as Greg Norman, Nick Faldo and, most recently, Tiger Woods. And it appears that Tiger’s and Justin Thomas’ shared interests in golf will have another commonality: golf course design.

Justin Thomas and Jack Nicklaus are partnering up to develop and build Panther National in Palm Beach County, Florida. The 18-hole layout will be a Jack Nicklaus Signature course, and Thomas’s first attempt at designing.

Thomas, who lives not far from Panther National in Jupiter, Florida, said:

“I grew up drawing golf courses in notebooks in middle school when I probably should have been paying attention in class… To be able to put that dream into reality at a place that I am able to now call home is pretty special.”

In addition to the course, Panther National is projected to also offer a training facility with a 9-hole, par-3 course, a short-game area and hitting bays supported by technology to improve performance.

Thomas said:

“There’s going to be a massive learning curve for me and just taking a lot of information and different things in, but at the same time I’m going to do as much as I can to make this place as great, fun and playable as I possibly can.

“This being my first course, being involved, first off who I’m doing it with I think speaks for itself, to where I’m going to be watching and observing and learning a lot. But at the same time … a huge reason why it is as great as it is to work with Jack on my first-ever course is that he has been very vocal that he wants me to share my opinions. He wants me to obviously learn as much as I possibly can, and he doesn’t want me to just sit back and just watch the whole thing and then the final product is everything he’s done.”

In addition to the golf course and complementing amenities, Panther National will also include 218 estates ranging in size from 4,700 square feet to as large as 10,000 square feet, and costing between $3.5 million to $12 million.  The costs haven’t scared people away, however, as Panther National already has 125 reservations.

The new project will also feature some very futuristic features, including Tesla Energy providing back up power systems within the estates. This will allow owners to add green features like solar panels. Each estate comes with a two or three car garage with electric charging units, space for a golf cart, an outdoor kitchen and private pool.

Panther National is currently scheduled to open in late 2023.
