Justin Thomas Parts Ways With Legendary Caddie
Justin Thomas has parted ways with long time caddie, Jim ‘Bones’ Mackay.
JT’s form of late has been poor, with a terrible performance on the greens overall, leading to a low point of a 79 during his third round at the Valspar Championship with 38 putts. This capped a string of missed cuts at the Genesis and the Players Championship.
He has struggled overall for some time, and it was in question as to whether he should’ve been in the Ryder Cup squad at all at the back end of last year.
Eight days before the opening major of the year, JT has made what he calls an ‘incredibly difficult’ decision to fire his caddie, who was instrumental in Phil Mickelson’s career as well as being present for the latter of JT’s two major championship wins – at Southern Hills in 2022.
The split appears to be amicable, with JT citing the excellent service provided by Bones over the course of the last three years.
Thomas wrote:
“His wisdom on and off the course has been a blessing during a tough stretch in my career.”
