KARMA: Brandel Chamblee Misses Ace by an Inch
For anyone who pays close attention to golf and watches analysts on TV, you know that Brandel Chamblee is one of the most polarizing people in the game. While he’s mostly getting headlines for his comments, this time, it’s for his own golf performance.
Chamblee, as many of you know, is an analyst for the golf channel that loves to spit out hot takes and occasionally get into arguments with PGA TOUR players.Additionally, Chamblee plays as a former PGA TOUR member and has continued to play on the senior circuit, qualifying for the Senior Open Championship the last two years. Now, he’s going for a full senior tour card.
To do that, Chamblee is required to earn his card by earning one of the top five spots in the final round of the Q School for the Tour of Champions. After a pretty rough start, things were looking up for Chamblee, especially when he hit his tee shot within centimeters of the cup. It was so close to being an ace that Chamblee could have breathed on the ball and it would have dropped.
My touch was a little off… had 187 on the par 3 sixth today… only flew it 186 and 10 inches…. but really… how did that not go in?!?? pic.twitter.com/0cbCx1AddK

Many see this shot as karma for Chamblee’s often abrasive comments about others as an analyst. However, he is not the one sweating the near-miss as much, versus some of his followers. Chamblee even went onto Twitter to remind everyone that he didn’t need that ace because he now has five and a half on his record thanks to the latest shot.
As for Chamblee’s hopes for the Tour of Champions, those were quickly dashed after the near hole-in-one. He had already started off with a bad front nine but he was making it up with four birdies on the back nine that put him as close as T-17. He ended up finishing the tournament in the 50s range so he will have to settle for his analyst gig for now.
For all of the smack talk that Chamblee lays out, one has to wonder if the voices of all of his critics were strong enough to keep that ball out of the cup. Even if that isn’t true, Chamblee will have other opportunities to make Senior Tour events later in 2020.
